The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, today, 21st March 2025, joined the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno for the opening ceremony of a Regional Command Conference at the National Police Headquarters, Accra.
In his address, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak acknowledged the vital role the Ghana Police Service plays in maintaining peace in the country. He noted the need for a 24-hour economy policing system to bolster security to keep pace with the growing demands of a modern and thriving economy. The Hon. Minister also commended the Inspector-General for reactivating all Police Regional Public Affairs offices to improve police engagement with members of the public.
On his part, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno highlighted the need for professionalism, transparency, and accountability in law enforcement to strengthen public trust. He underscored the urgency of tackling crimes such as illegal mining-related violence, attacks on mobile money vendors, and prolonged conflicts in certain regions.
The IGP gave the assurance that the Ghana Police Service remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and will continue to adopt innovative strategies to combat crime in the country.
The Regional Commanders pledged their commitment to addressing the security challenges within their regions.
The conference was attended by members of the Police Management Board, all Regional Police Commanders, Regional Operations, and Intelligence Officers.
