Roland Atanga Ayoo, the newly confirmed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bolgatanga, has pledged to work tirelessly to elevate the municipality to metropolitan status. His commitment follows a unanimous endorsement by all 38 assembly members present and voting during his confirmation ceremony.
Bolgatanga Municipality, established as a district in 1988 and upgraded to municipal status in 2004, boasts a population of over 139,000 according to the 2021 census. Strategically positioned as the gateway to neighboring Burkina Faso, the area serves as a key commercial hub, attracting traders and travelers.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Ayoo emphasized that a key focus of his tenure would be equitable development. He assured residents that his administration would prioritize initiatives promoting inclusivity, economic growth, and improved living standards. The MCE’s vision for Bolgatanga’s future reflects the aspirations of its residents, who are eager for progress and development.
The MCE further stated that Bolgatanga will return to its normalcy, implying a renewed sense of purpose and progress. According to him, the municipality has experienced a state of stagnation in the past, but his administration will drive development initiatives to revitalize the area.
For his part, Mr. Ayoo acknowledged the trust imposed on him by the assembly members, chiefs, queen mothers, and the youth, viewing it as a call to deliver. He is committed to justifying this trust and working tirelessly to meet the expectations of the people.
With a strong mandate from the assembly, Mr. Ayoo is well-positioned to drive the municipality’s growth and development agenda. His commitment to metropolitan status is expected to unlock new opportunities for Bolgatanga, enhancing its economic prospects and quality of life for its residents.
