The youth claim their Member of Parliament, Hon. Thomas Anaba, is trying to revoke the appointment of Tampuri Thomas Wennam, the current branch executive, due to his lack of support for the MP during the party’s premises. According to the youth, Hon. Anaba allegedly stated that he can’t work with individuals who didn’t support him.
It is alleged that the slot for the YEA director position was initially intended for the Constituency Youth Organizer for Garu. However, due to the organizer’s lack of educational background, the position was given to Tampuri Thomas Wennam, a branch executive, instead. The deputy organizer, who allegedly meets the qualifications for the role, was sidelined by the constituency chairman, the youth Organizer and some party functionary.
The Youth are demanding a transparent and fair appointment process, free from political interference. They’re questioning Hon. Anaba’s motives and actions, seeking clarity on the appointment process
Meanwhile,The allegations surrounding Thomas Tampuri’s appointment as the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) director for the Garu district are centered on claims that he didn’t inform the Member of Parliament, Hon. Thomas Anaba,of his interest in the position. More of that,he did not show up when the forms were out for filling. According to sources, Tumpuri was allegedly asked to step aside and move to the regional level, allowing the deputy constituency youth organizer to take the position, but he refused.
Tampuri, reportedly insists on staying in his current position, despite the alleged pressure to move to the regional level.
In a related development, journalists visited the YEA office in Garu and found Mr. Thomas at his post. In an interview with Iddrisu Kassim, Thomas confirmed that he received an appointment letter on May 5, 2025, and officially reported for duty as the district YEA director on May 20, 2025. He emphasized that he has not received any letter or notification revoking his appointment.
The youths appealed to Hon. Thomas Anaba not to revoke Mr. Thomas’s appointment, citing concerns about potential disruptions to the YEA’s work in the district. They urged the MP to prioritize the needs of the youth and the community over personal interests.
This situation highlights the complexities of appointment processes and the potential for controversy when qualifications and party loyalty intersect.
