NCCE PRU EAST DISTRICT IN COLLABORATION WITH EU HELD AN ENGAGEMENT WITH YOUTH GROUPS ON PREVENTING AND CONTAINING VIOLENT EXTREMISM

 

The Commission with much concern about violence threat in our societies influence by some personal and groups interest has brought up the implementation of PCVE to promote social cohesion, peace and tolerance in the society.

Pru East District with much anticipation of fighting violent in it extremism has engaged about fifty-five(55) participants from fifteen(15) youth groups which include tertiary students group, artisans group, fun clubs, games group and other youth related associations. The NCCE Pru East Directorate with the district Immigration command and Some Religious leaders explained violent extremism and it challenges in a society and the youth. The speakers alluded to nations that has affected and gone down destruction because of violent.

Bono East Regional director of NCCE Mr. Joseph Kwaku Yeboah said, factors that easily contribute and escalate violence in the society include misinformation, disinformation and fake news. One has to verify the information he/she is carrying outside and the receiver has to verify as well before any further action. He charged the media to be circumspect on the news they carry out, the impact of it when on air.

To enable the promotion of peace in our society, the district director of NCCE Mr. Emmanuel Nimo advised that all should be tolerant to each other. Also have the state of mind that we’re in the Democratic dispensation where individual rights, principles and rules ordained and administered.

Mr. Emmanuel Nimo intensified awareness political influence in the upcoming elections and the victims are the beautiful youths in the society.

The religious leaders with biblical quotes admonished the participants and all to make peace with neighbors the godly way of life. They advised the youth to be supportive in society building but not to be tools for destructions for personal interest.

The participants after going through series of education on Violent Extremism and the challenges in societies pledged their support for peace in our country everywhere they are. They made the assurance of waging war against violence ensuring peace and harmony. The successful Pru East District NCCE program on Preventing and Containing Violent Extremism(PCVE) is highly sponsored by the European Union.
