A CALL TO RECONSIDER: RESPECTING RELIGIOUS RIGHTS IN BINDURI TOWNSHIP AND IT’S ENVIRONS – NORYINE NABA
_An Open Letter to_
The Honourable Minister, Ministry of Interior,
Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak,
Through:
The Regional Minister, Upper East,
Hon. Donatus Akamugri Atanga
I am compelled to express my strongest condemnation of the recently imposed curfew in Binduri Township, from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am. This decision is not only insensitive but also neglectful of the Muslim community’s needs during the sacred month of Ramadan.
The last 10 days of Ramadan are crucial for Muslims, marked by intense spiritual reflection, prayer, and devotion. The imposed curfew will severely restrict their ability to participate in night prayers (Taraweeh) and other spiritual activities.
I urge you to reconsider and revise the curfew hours immediately, enabling Muslims in Binduri District to fulfill their religious obligations without hardship. It’s essential to balance security concerns with respect for religious rights.
I call on you to engage with the Muslim community and stakeholders to find an inclusive solution that addresses security concerns without compromising religious freedoms.
