The chiefs and the people of Binduri in the Upper East Region on Tuesday, 25th March, called on the interior minister to reconsider his decision to ban motorcycle riding in Binduri and its environs. The interior minister imposed a curfew on the people of Binduri on Monday, 24th March, following recent shootings in the area.
Addressing the press, the chief of Binduri, Naba Akolbilla Robert I, called on the interior minister to reverse the ban on motorcycle riding in Binduri. According to him, the people of Binduri are peace-loving individuals, farmers, and wish to condemn the killings in Binduri District in the name of the Kusaaug and Mamprusis conflict.
For his part, the imposition of the curfew in Binduri is not the solution for the people of Binduri; rather, the removal of Seidu Abagri from Bawku would be the best solution to end the long-lasting unrest, gunshots, and killings.Meanwhile, the youth of Binduri are appealing for justice for the people of Bawku and Binduri, as they describe the act of the North East Regional Minister advising the Upper East Regional Minister to impose a curfew on Binduri questionable.
According to the youth, if their calls are not met, they will hit the streets for their freedom and justice.
