Eddie Nketiah, an English football player of Ghanaian heritage, has indicated that he is willing to play for Ghana, raising the possibility of a commitment to the Black Stars.
The Ghana Football Association reportedly met with the Arsenal striker and his parents several times over his interest in representing Ghana.
When Eddie Nketiah was called up by former England coach Gareth Southgate in August 2023, it seemed as though the door had been closed.
But because he has struggled to get game time at Arsenal, the striker has gone unnoticed by England.
The 25-year-old striker mentioned his Ghanaian ancestry and stated he was ready to play for either England or Ghana in a recent interview.
“Obviously, my parents are both Ghanaians, and I’m from a Ghanaian heritage. It’s a possibility, I’m open to both, whether that’s playing for Ghana or England as well,” he said on the Beautiful Game podcast.
“I’ve played for the England youth teams, so obviously when I was younger they called me up to go and play for them.”
Nketiah, meantime, is leaving Arsenal after receiving approval from the team to undergo a medical examination at Crystal Palace.
Nketiah, an academy graduate of Arsenal, is reportedly close to joining Crystal Palace for a contract for £25 million plus £5 million in add-ons.
