Military Officer Shot Dead and Two Civilians in a Separate Incident in Bawku

In the ongoing conflict in Bawku, one military officer and two civilians have been shot dead in different locations, while others are in critical condition.

This incident occurred when a military officer stationed in Kolore, a suburb of Bawku, went to a mango tree near his post to pick a mango. He was shot dead by unknown gunmen, while the other two, Mohammed Alale Kusaa, a veterinary officer from Bawku, and James Akamah, a phone repairer from Zawse in the Binduri District, were killed at Atuba Market in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region, leaving three others seriously injured. This has raised fears and doubts in the area. Atuba in the Binduri District has experienced several attacks recently.

The incident happened at the Atuba Market when market women were busy. Many suspect the incident is linked to the Bawku conflict.

Others believe it was a robbery since the perpetrators made off with an unidentified sum of money and a motorbike. But in reality, it’s linked to the Bawku conflict, not robbery.

This has caused panic and fear among the people of the area.

The bodies have been buried at their respective family homes.
