Upper East Region Holds National Education Forum to Transform Education for a Sustainable Future.

As part of the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama’s policies to transform the educational system in the country, the Upper East Region and North East Region held a forum titled “Transforming Education for a Sustainable Future” at the Bolgatanga Technical University Campus in the Upper East Region.

This forum aims to involve all stakeholders from various sectors to share ideas and plans for the government to implement into its strategies.

Speaking at the forum, the Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Atanga Akamugri, expressed his honor in hosting this important event, which has brought together key stakeholders with diverse opinions and perspectives dedicated to shaping the future of education in this country.

A member of the National Education Forum Planning Committee, Professor Smile Gavue Dzisi, highlighted the idea behind the forum.

According to her, the government led by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has integrated eight national member committees on transforming education for a sustainable future.

For her part, the government doesn’t want to do it alone but rather to listen to the Ghanaian people through various stakeholders to transform the educational sector. The said eight national member committees will engage the sixteen regions in the country to have forums to gather ideas from the Ghanaian people.

The North East Regional Director of Education, Simon Amokase, called for all heads of schools to return to the old system of school farms to support the government in the school feeding program.

For his part, every school should farm on their school lands and harvest crops to support feeding the students instead of depending solely on the government to provide them with food.
