The Concerned Youth of Binduri in the Upper East Region on 19th April 2025, organized a press conference to express their outrage and disappointment over the killing of a woman and her four children in Binduri. The youth accused the security agencies of being biased in the Bawku conflict, claiming they have failed to protect the people.
Some women present at the press conference held the military responsible for the killing, alleging that they were ineffective in preventing the attack despite the curfew. The youth leader, Sule Salifu Azanamaal, further accused the security agencies of aiding their enemies during curfew hours, allowing them to kill Kusaasis.
The youth also expressed disappointment with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party, which they claimed that the party has deceived them during the 2024 campaign. According to the youth, the NDC promised to resolve the Bawku conflict if voted into power but has failed to deliver on this promise.
The area’s Member of Parliament has come under fire for failing to issue a statement condemning the killing of the five women. The youth criticized the MP’s recent interview with Tv stations, where he called for more military presence in the area, sparking concerns about the impact on the community.
The Concerned Youth of Binduri are demanding justice and accountability from the government and security agencies. They urge the authorities to take immediate action to address the security in the area and protect the lives of the people. The situation remains tense, with the youth calling for a more effective response to the ongoing violence.
